# AI credits

> How AI credits work, what each AI action costs, what happens when a workspace runs out, and how to top up with credit packs.

Every AI action in a workspace uses **AI credits** from one shared pool. One credit is worth \$0.01 of AI model list price. A subject line costs 1 credit and a generated image costs 15.

## Monthly credits by plan

| Plan | AI credits per month |
| - | - |
| Free | 150 |
| Essential | 400 |
| Pro | 2,000 |
| Enterprise | 10,000 |

Plan credits renew on the 1st of each month (UTC). Unused plan credits don't roll over. If you upgrade mid-month, the month's credits rise to the new plan's allowance straight away. If you downgrade, you keep the current month's credits until the month ends.

## What each action costs

| Action | Credits |
| - | - |
| Short text: subject lines, text generation and rewrites, Enhance Prompt, alt text, segment AI, template score, AI inbox preview, **Describe with AI** for automations, landing page scripts | 1 |
| Content bundle, landing page theme, Design Assistant refinement, a brand scan you start yourself | 3 |
| Landing page HTML AI, and importing from HTML, a screenshot, Figma or Mailchimp | 6 per model call |
| Spark chat | 3 per model call |
| Synthetic panel | 2 per persona rated |
| Design Assistant first draft | 10, plus images |
| Campaign plan | 5, plus 8 per email, plus images (up to 2 per email) |
| AI landing page | 20, plus images |
| Image | 15 |
| Image edit | 16 |
| Video | 150 per 6 seconds |
| AI personalisation at send time | 1 per generated text |

For example, a three-email campaign plan with one image per email costs 5 + 3 × 8 + 3 × 15 = 74 credits.

These cost nothing:

* The brand scan when you sign up
* **Fix HTML** in the landing page builder, which runs no AI
* Weekly campaign proposals, until you accept one
* AI personalisation texts reused from the cache
* A saved result shown again, such as a repeated AI inbox preview or synthetic panel run
* An action that fails

Before an action runs, the credits for the most it can cost are set aside. When it finishes, you pay for what it used and the rest goes back to your balance. If it fails, everything goes back.

## When credits run out

AI actions stop with a message saying the workspace has no AI credits left. They start again when the plan credits renew on the 1st or when someone buys a credit pack.

[AI personalisation](/guides/audience-and-campaigns/ai-personalisation) never stops an email. With no credits left, the AI block sends its fallback copy.

## The AI credits page

Open **Settings → Billing → AI credits**. Every workspace member can see it. The page shows:

* the credits available, and how many of this month's plan credits are left
* credits from packs, and when the plan credits renew
* this month's use by action
* every charge, with who ran it, the model and the tokens used, filtered by period, action or person
* **Export CSV** for the charges in the period you picked

The **Current Usage** card on the dashboard and on **Plan & Billing** shows the month's AI credits, with a link to this page.

## Top up with credit packs

Click **Top up credits** on the AI credits page to buy a pack. Packs are one-off purchases on any plan, Free included.

| Pack | Price |
| - | - |
| 1,000 credits | \$10 + tax |
| 5,000 credits | \$45 + tax |
| 20,000 credits | \$160 + tax |

* Only the workspace **Owner** can buy packs. Other members see who to ask.
* Paddle handles the payment and adds VAT or sales tax at checkout, as for [plans](/guides/sending-and-workspace/billing-and-plans).
* Bought credits last **12 months** from purchase.
* The month's plan credits are used first, then pack credits.
